This suggests that the grocery chains or their owners are double dipping in the profits. I am also concerned that the supply chain for local products may be more complex, as in having more steps, than necessary. Simply looking at the consumer facing part of the grocery industry does not seem sufficient.
Absolutely, and I meant to dig into that as well - Loblaw in particular has brands that feed in, and food manufacturers in general have upped margins too.
